[Week 12] Launch
Testing and Evaluation
Playtesting and evaluation has been completed by Gameloft and Uken Games, with the majority of feedback given by Uken. Overall, playertesters had this to say about their experience:
- Pleased with the design and levels, pleased with variety of levels in the cell stage
- The rotation is a bit finicky, hard to adjust to.
- Camera control in the human stage was preferred over the cell stage. Suggested static camera for cell.
- Transition from cell->human could've been more drawn out or had a bigger reveal.
- Pleasantly surprised with the amount of content.
Reflections
After 12 weeks of development, Rotational Traverser has gone through numerous changes. When referencing back to our earlier devlogs, the final product stayed true to the initial mechanics we wanted the player to explore. Some mechanics such as the festering cells only saw deployment in the cell stage whereas initially we wanted to explore incorporating the festering cells in the human stage as well. It is our belief that the game has matured into something that's enjoyable for everyone. Throughout the course of development, the idea of dropping the shifted stages was debated but we're glad that we stuck with it. Play-testers seems to enjoy the jump in environments and mechanics.
